Bill To Establish Chartered Institute Of Project Managers Of Nigeria Passes 2nd Reading

The proposed bill seeks to establish a body that will be charged with the responsibility for the registration of members.


It also seeks to professionalize the institute of project managers.


The bill, if passed, will also regulate and discipline members who erred.


Leading the debate on the general principles of the proposed legislation, Rep. Uzoma Abonta (PDP-Abia), said that the bill, if passed, would ensure that the ethics of the profession was observed.


Abonta argued that the essence of the legislation was to “give us efficient managers.


“The bill, my dear colleagues if passed, will increase the capability and capacity of members,” he said.


The lawmaker urged his colleagues to support the bill, saying that it would create job opportunities for Nigerians.


The bill, thereafter, scaled the second reading and the Deputy Speaker, Rep. Emeka Ihedioha, referred it to the Committee on Commerce for further legislative in put.
